What stories are Strive looking to publish?

Strive Community Publishing prioritizes investing in Black authors from the Minneapolis/St.Paul, Minnesota area. Manuscripts that inspire strengthening relationships across cultures and generations are also welcome. We will read and review un-agented manuscripts and proposals for all types of books, from children’s picture books to adult memoirs.

My manuscript got denied for publishing Why is that?

The most common reason a manuscripts gets denied for publishing by Strive is a lack of manuscript preparation. Be sure to watch our Video Tutorials and follow the careful steps outlined in “Preparing your manuscript” video before sending us your manuscript. If you feel confident that you’ve followed these steps but your manuscript was denied, please send an email to info@strivepublishing.com and we will do our best to provide you with more information.

How can I improve my manuscript?

If I don’t want to publish a book but still want to share my story, how can I do that?

Strive Community Publishing offers community members to share their story through our Community Storybook. Follow the steps on our website to send us a photo, short story, or poem, to be considered to be included in our Community Storybook. If you indicate you would like your story to be shared on social media as well, we may share your photo, segment of your short story, or poem on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter as well.

In addition, Strive Community Publishing offers a variety of events and workshops. You are always welcome to share your story with us at these events too!

My book just got published by Strive. Now what?

First congratulations! Now it’s time to spread the word and market your great work. Watch our “Marketing Essentials” video for step by step instructions on how to effectively market your book. Strive Community Publishing is not solely responsible for your market success. We will work with you and uplift your efforts, but your new book will only be as successful as the work you put into marketing it.

I don’t identify as Black, but would love to support Strive. What’s the best way I can do that?

Welcome! Strive Community Publishing uplifts Black voices and is also a place for our entire community to come together. The most direct ways you can show your support is by purchasing a book by one of our talented authors, making a direct donation, visiting the Strive Bookstore, and sharing our work with your friends and family.
